Although the roots are mostly mammals, it is actually possible to obtain roots for rds. However, this is very unlikely. It has been the subject of experimental experiments, but I don't know if it has ever been observed in nature.
First, the roots are usually arranged in bulk. When dogs or cats are tested, their saliva (especially cat's) contains bacteria that have time to eradicate rabies.
